Designing Growth with Trust and Clarity

Bio
I’m a Los Angeles–based designer with 12 years of experience shaping digital and physical products and branding, built on 8 years as a digital Art Director. I spent 7 years as a Human Interface Designer at Apple, shipping 20+ products, earning design awards and patents, and helping Beats by Dre evolve its interaction design language.
Why OpenAi?
OpenAI’s safety‑first mission resonates. I want to translate complex AI into experiences that are approachable, trustworthy, and human—so more people discover value quickly and keep returning. Having shipped global products at Apple, I’ve seen how real growth means balancing adoption with clarity and accessibility. I’m excited to help drive adoption, engagement, retention, and upgrades for ChatGPT without compromising responsibility.
How I’ll Drive Growth
Onboarding & Education: Reduce intimidation and time‑to‑first‑success with flows that meet people where they are.
Experimentation & Data: Run design‑led experiments with clear hypotheses; ship, measure activation/retention/upgrade signals, iterate. Balance quantitative results with qualitative insight.
Accessible Aspiration: Build systems that feel powerful and elevated without being overwhelming.
Brand Through Interaction: Express openness and humanity through language, micro‑interactions, and humane error states to build trust loops.
Research With Impact: At Apple, I influenced UX in a 12‑city research program, personally interviewing users in 7 locations. Those insights informed product, brand, marketing, and engineering decisions. I’ll apply the same rigor to uncover friction and hesitation with AI.
My Approach
Narrative-Driven: Design narratives that align cross‑functional teams and guide decisions.
Prototype First: Ship ideas early, test with users, then refine pixels into rationalized, beautiful UI.
Culture & Mentorship: Foster creativity, mentor across levels, and energize teams.
Management Style: Trust the vision, instincts, and feedback. With a clear mission and objective, I encourage teams to ‘keep going’—even when the outcome is uncertain.

Lowering Barriers to Adoption
We already use ChatGPT daily—to be more productive, more informed, and even as a sounding board for ideas. For experienced users that feels inevitable, but for many people the adoption barrier is still real. I want to help lower that barrier so ChatGPT becomes a natural companion, freeing people to focus more on what actually matters in their lives.
“Harry stands out for his ability to reframe problems into opportunities that drive real outcomes. He holds fast to the design vision, keeps user needs central, and brings a unique perspective and energy to the team that elevates everyone’s work.”
— Eddie Apodaca, Director of UX at Beats by Dre
